Karl,
Yes! That is exactly what I meant. Please add one more level of elephants at the bottom for now – 4 levels is very unlucky in China, and since that caution conveniently coincides with my expensive sense of proportion, let's follow tradition and have a stack of five. The color may be a little off, but that is minor. I think dead black may be right, or a dull porcelain white, or black and white horizontal topographic stripes, or else a black/white Ben-Day dot image map of similar elephant forms in slightly wilder disarray – trunks akimbo – just slightly off-registered onto the surface. But then I hadn't even considered purple, and now that you have, who knows? I like all of it except the top view. I had imagined something more sophisticated, like a dovetail, rather than the obvious butt joint. OK though, we'll stay with this. Actually, I guess you do have a miter, but the obvious always has more power in the memory than fine definition. We are already running into so many contradictions for such a simple project – a hippostyle hall of elephants rendered in Rhino. I always have had trouble keeping these exotic animals straight – like alligators and crocodiles, porcupines and raccoons – and we've already had trouble enough with all those vegetables projects! We need a vertical section dead center, and horizontal plan sections at first floor knee height and at first floor mid-belly level. Plus, a section perspective interior view looking down through the leg into a belly chamber, with light and
